Flat rack shipping containers are the perfect transportation option for goods that won’t fit in a general-purpose container or in an open-top container. So if it’s big, if it’s awkward, if it’s an odd shape, and if it seems impossible to transport. Then a flat rack shipping container could well be the answer you’ve been looking for!
Flat rack shipping containers consist of a flat bed with either fixed or collapsible ends, or no ends at all. The efficiency of standardized shipping is built on the premise that containers can be easily transported from ship to port to truck or train, and oversized or difficult goods are no exception. Ports Containers is designed in an industry built on innovative ideas, and it continues to innovate itself every day.
Oversized cables, drums, metal sheets, steel coils, wood, trucks, heavy equipment, large industrial parts, construction materials, and even boats are just some of the items that a flat rack shipping container can transport. Got a yacht that needs transporting? A water tank or bulldozer? Flat rack shipping containers are more likely the right container for the job.
Amazingly, flat rack containers can still be stacked as well. Whilst flat racks don’t have fixed side walls or load-carrying structures, they still have the standardized weight-bearing corner fittings both at the top and bottom of the container so that they can still be safely stacked (if the load is wide, rather than high) and easily handled.
Here at Ports Containers, we have a range of new and used flat rack shipping containers available for sale or hire in 20-foot and 40-foot sizes in fixed-end, platform, and collapsible configurations, one of which is no doubt perfect for you.

Flat rack fixed-end containers are high-loading capacity containers with a floor and two fixed-end walls, but no side walls. They are used for oversized wide loads. The end walls allow cargo to be secured and for the flat racks to be stacked on top of each other easily and securely.
Like the flat rack fixed-end containers, flat rack collapsible containers have a floor, no side walls, and two end walls. The difference is that the end walls can be collapsed if required. They are useful for shipping overlength cargo and have the added bonus of saving space because they can be stacked into a small space with the end walls collapsed if they are being stored or repositioned.
Platform flat rack shipping containers, also known as Bolster Containers, don’t have side or end walls; but are made up entirely of a floor structure that can withstand a high loading capacity which enables heavyweight to be stacked in a small area.
